Samsung's Hope for Education Grant 2007
We are so excited to be the grand prize winners of Samsung's Hope for Education grant for 2007! The whole school attended the special award ceremony at the Instructional Technology Center. There were many special guests there, including the wonderful Aly & AJ, who entertained us with a private concert!!! Our school will receive $200,000 worth of Samsung equipment and Microsoft software. In addition, we were also the recipients of a specially-trained dog, Kali, who will help out Mrs. Hamm's class. The children were so excited during the concert and were a great audience. Here is the essay that won the grand prize:
In the Land of Classroom Technology
The computer is King in the Land of Learning, but his retinue strengthen and supplement his role in the classroom. The overhead projector is Steward of Visual Aid Enhancement. The video monitoring system acts as Viceroy of Security, Conferencing and Long Distance Learning. The cell phone operates as Count of Communications. The digital camera serves as Kingdom Historian. The printer functions as Master Publisher. The MP3 player and televison are Chief Purveyors of Information. The King and this noble court work together to command a magical kingdom where students can learn and succeed. Long live classroom technology!
